Orange County Skin Resurfacing
Laser Skin Resurfacing for Smoother Skin
Laser skin resurfacing refers to the removal of layers of the skin to result
in smoother, tighter, less pigmented skin. Doctors of California Laser
& Cosmetic Center performs all types of laser skin resurfacing. The
physician who does your free consultation will advise you which type is
best for you.
There are different types of laser skin resurfacing:
- Ablative Skin Resurfacing
- Fractional Laser Resurfacing
Ablative Skin Resurfacing
Ablative Skin Resurfacing includes both CO2 Laser Peels and Erbium Laser
Peels. Both wavelengths, (CO2 and Erbium), can be used to totally evaporate
the skin resulting in wrinkle reduction, skin tightening and pigment reduction.
Although deep total laser resurfacing produces dramatic results, it requires
anesthesia, prolonged down time and extensive postoperative wound care.
Erbium Laser Peels can also be used to perform minimal downtime, minimal
discomfort ablative skin resurfacing procedures such as the ArcticPeel™,
the Laser Minipeel, the Laser Combo peel™, and the Laser Micropeel.
We are proud to use the Sciton Contour Er:YAG laser to perform these procedures.
Instead of doing full thickness ablation we can set the laser to evaporate
as little as 10 microns of skin or as much as 60 microns of skin with
remarkable results. This is equivalent to having 10 to 60 microdermabrasions
at the same time with even better results.
Fractional Laser Resurfacing
Fractional laser resurfacing refers to a procedure in which tiny columns
of laser light (150-250 microns across) penetrate below the skin selectively
causing injury to the middle and superficial layers of the skin and collagen.
As the body repairs the columns of injured skin, new tighter coiled collagen
is produced, acne scars are decreased, pores get smaller, the skin tightens,
pigments are reduced, and wrinkles are diminished. Fractional laser skin
resurfacing is ideally combined with the Arctic Peel™ and the Laser
Minipeel to produce even more dramatic results faster.
Doctors of California Laser & Cosmetic Center utilizes two different
fractional lasers. We are proud to use the Sciton Profractional Laser
which is an ablative fractional laser for those who need ablative resurfacing.
It is the best 2940nm fractional laser for acne scarring, wrinkle reduction
and skin resurfacing. There is minimal downtime and minimal discomfort.
We are also utilizing the exceptional Quanta Laser Matisse to perform
the QuantaFrax™ procedure. QuantaFrax™ uses a 1540nm wavelength
resulting in a no downtime procedure for the reduction of wrinkles, acne
scarring, pigmentary changes and skin tightening. Dr. Jack Gutman, our
medical director, developed The QuantaFrax™ procedure. Combined
with the Artic Peel™ the QuantaFrax™ procedure becomes the
Fractional Lasers all work the same:
Matisse is a non-ablative laser, with no down time designed for melasma,
acne scarring, discoloration, enlarged pores, superficial skin tightening,
and mild wrinkling.
ProFractional is for the same procedures, but it is an ablative laser and
causes slight bleeding.
