Treat Loose Sagging Skin with Skin Tightening

Collagen is the material that connects the skin to the underlying structures. When it is young, collagen consists of tight coils like a spring. As we age, the coils loosen and the skin begins to sag. Skin tightening is a procedure in which the deepest layer of collagen in the skin is damaged in one of two ways. The resultant healing and regeneration of that collagen results in tighter, thicker and firmer textured skin. In the rejuvenated collagen, the loose coils of collagen are replaced by new tighter coils again. The most commonly tightened skin areas are the face, the eyes, the perioral (lip lines), the tummy, the arms, and the buttocks.

Skin Tightening

Skin tightening can be performed with surgery, radio frequency devices and laser devices.
The four most common methods of skin tightening include:

  1. Cosmetic Surgery
  2. Exilis Skin Sightening
  3. Thermage
  4. Skin Tyte
  5. Quanta Frax
  6. Laser Liposuction

Cosmetic Surgery

Cosmetic surgery can be performed by a qualified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. Procedures like face lifts, tummy tucks, and their derivatives are the most dramatic ways to tighten skin. Side effects including pain, possible infection, inconsistent results, and prolonged downtime makes this option unsuitable for many individuals.

Thermage

Thermage is a radiofrequency device which heats and selectively denatures collagen in the deepest layers of the skin without injuring the outer layer of skin, called the epidermis. It is a one time, no downtime procedure. We are trained and qualified by Thermage to perform all of their procedures: Thermage Face, Thermage Eyes, Thermage Lips, Thermage Hands, and Thermage Tummy. To learn more about the various uses of Thermage, please visit our section on Thermage.

Skin Tyte

Skin Tyte by Sciton, often referred to as Broadband Light is a laser skin tightening procedure. The Skin Tyte method is best used on larger areas such as the abdomen, arms and buttocks although it can be used with great results on the face. It is a safe, effective, no downtime procedure which is repeated every other week for a total of five treatments per area. To learn more, please visit our page on Skin Tyte.

Quanta Frax

Quanta Frax is another laser skin tightening procedure, developed by our medical director, Dr. Jack Gutman, using a different laser technique. Quanta Frax can provide dramatic results, without the pain, downtime or other side effects of cosmetic surgery. The Quanta Frax procedure stimulates contraction within the collagen in the middle and superficial layers of the skin. As the microthermal zones repair themselves, new collagen replaces the old and the skin tightens. The Quanta Frax procedure is performed up to five times and is commonly used in conjunction with the Thermage or Skin Tyte procedures for maximum results. Laser Liposuction

Our Minimally Invasive Laser Liposuction Procedure, otherwise known as the MILL Procedure, is a safe alternative to a liposuction procedure performed by a plastic surgeon. Using ProLipo and Smart Lipo lasers, a small laser cannula (mini tube) is inserted under the skin through a tiny incision. Laser energy will melt the fat around the laser tip while tightening the skin around it. It can be used with Thermage Procedure or with fractional lasers to achieve even more dramatic results.
